Meet Our Founder

As the founder of Root Down Terrains, Steve Crisafulli is the principle designer and primary contact with our clients. His 15 years of experience with a wide range of projects allows him to understand the unique and diverse goals and visions of his clients. His dedication to environmental sustainability, artistic vision, and passion for his work drives Root Down Terrains’ core values of ecological excellence, inspiring aesthetics, and commitment to meeting client expectations.

Steve earned his bachelors degree in Plant Science from the University of Maryland and his graduate degree in Biology from West Chester University. Early in his career, Steve gained further expertise in the application of horticultural and ecological knowledge on various organic farms, greenhouse operations, and sustainable landscaping focused on raingardens and green-roofing.

As a native to the Greater Philadelphia region, Steve is devoted to creating a symbiosis between people’s core needs for livable outdoor spaces and the indigenous flora that imbue our lands with beauty, function, and life.
